The summary is the first thing a recruiter reads and the fastest place to lose them. This is the formula that consistently works, plus 27 examples across careers so you can borrow the shape and swap in your specifics.

The 3-line formula

Line 1: Job title + years of experience + one specialty. Line 2: One quantified achievement. Line 3: What kind of role you want next. That's it — no adjectives, no 'passionate about excellence' filler.

FAQ

Is 'objective' the same as 'summary'?

No. An objective states what you want; a summary states what you offer. In 2025, summary wins for anyone with experience. Objectives only make sense for career-changers or first jobs.

How long should a resume summary be?

40–60 words. Three lines on the page. Longer and it stops being a summary.
